A methodological framework for quantitative risk analysis in container shipping operations

Purpose Container shipping is a crucial component of the global supply chain that affected by large range operational risks with high uncertainty, threatening stability service, manufacture, distribution and profitability involved parties. However, quantitative risk analysis (QRA) container (CSOR) being obstructed lack well-established theoretical structure to guide deeper research efforts. This paper proposes methodological framework strengthen quality reliability CSOR (CSORA). Design/methodology/approach Focusing on addressing uncertainties, establishes solid, overarching updated basis for CSORA. The consists clearly defined elements processes, including knowledge establishing, information gathering, aggregating multiple sources data (social/deliberative mathematical/statistical), calculating uncertainty level presenting interpreting quantified results. applied in case study three companies Vietnam. Findings Various contributions were rendered regarding characteristics, settings models, handling uncertainties result interpretation. empirical also generated valuable managerial implications management policies. Originality/value fills gap an CSORA considering recent advancements operations management. can be used both practitioners as tool scholars test bench facilitate comparison development QRA models.
